Sulfate free items

Recently, I saw the new advertised Pantene shampoo that said it was "sulfate free". Well, if you read the ingredients it is only particially sulfate free. Please don't be fooled by false advertising and read all of the ingredients.

I did find reasonably priced body wash, shampoo and even laundry detergent that is COMPLETELY sulfate free. Whole foods brand, 365, has 100% sulfate free shampoo, body wash and laundry detergent. I have tried each one of them and they work well.

My problem started when I was a "toddler", I cant remember when I didnt have allergies. Symptoms vary from headache, diarrhoea, hives, congestion, etc, heart palpitations started recently. From age 5, I got off milk and green vegetables and tried to manage my diet that way. When I went to university, I had a huge outbreak mainly because of a change in diet, doctors had no idea what I was suffering from and the condition resolved itself. Then I couldnt use toothpaste, I never drank no alcohol but when I had a glass one day, I had the worst headache. My condition always worsens when I move from one country to another(change in diet and allergens), which I do often as an expartriate. 2008 was bad for me when I moved to my current location, I was in and out of the doc's office every week. Went for allergy tests for the nth time, all negative except housedust mite but I knew I had a problem with food allergies. Doc didnt know what to do with me, until she sent me to a dietician/allergist. I was diagnosed with CIU(Chronic Idiopathic urteceria. I came off processed foods completely, I also avoid some veges, no raisins etc. In Dec, I came across the mastercleanse diet, did that for a week, came across www.dignose-me.com, thats when the mention of sulfite allergy came up and ever since I have come to understand my condition. I now always make my own food from scratch, eat out once in a blue moon, use only unprocessed foods, no take-aways, no convenience foods either. Needs lots of discipline, but I have started having heart palpitations. So the journey continues but for now, I will remain vegetarian and off processed foods and drinks, no milk, just eat bare minimums and take supplements for essential minerals and nutrients I am not getting from my diet. I realised anti-histamines I relied on also caused high cholesterol levels as I was dignosed with high cholesterol- search for the link.

I was wondering if anyone here know of any at-home way to know if there are any sulfites in certain foods. I’ve noticed I have a slight reaction with some of my favorite foods and drinks, and I want to see if it’s due to my sulfite allergy. I don’t want to give up those items if I don’t have to. I’d really appreciate any help!
